An LOLtastic take on Mormonism, which in the 1900s was seen as a scourge of a cult (frankly can't disagree with them). Also a rare Mae Murray silent, as very few of her films not only exist but are in general release. Also of interest are well known directors Hobart Bosworth and Frank Borzage in acting roles. Plot: This silent melodrama is set against the 1840s westward migration of the Mormons. Dora, a young woman, and her family are saved from an Indian attack by a Mormon community traveling...

Originally planned as a WW1 movie staring female impersonator Julian Eltinge called "Over the Rhine", this film was shelved when armistice was declared. It was recut as "An Adventuress" in 1920 after the scandalous death of Virgina Rappe and finally, as this version in 1922 to capitalize on the new found fame of the previously unknown Rudolph Valentino. The plot is nonsensical and several shots of Valentino are reused, even when he is obviously not in the room the other...

I believe only about 5 songs or so are missing from this discography, but yes this is nearly complete. A good majority were ripped by grimriper, others come from other sources. The earliest recording is "Butterfly is a Fly Gal Now" from 1919 and the last few are from the early 1940s. Belle Baker was an exceedingly popular vaudeville and early radio performer. Her standards veered between ragtime, torch songs and Yiddish songs. A wonderful selection, and her voice is one of the best...

Gaby Deslys was an extremely popular French singer in the 1910s. Known for her extravagant lifestyle she sadly died in 1920 from a combination of a throat infection and influenza. In her lifetime recording was still very new, she only made 3 recordings. But one (La Parisienne) was rejected and never released. Thus these are the only two known recordings of her, both made in 1910. Despite the primitive technology her charm and vocal skills come through grandly.

It went on to tbe th 6th best selling silent of all time, and at one point it was likely the highest grossing movie of all time due to rereleases (it was bumped by Gone with the Wind's release).
